My name is Lottie, author, writer, Hypnobirthing practitioner and mum to two beautiful little girls. Mia was born in November 2011. Her birth was of course, one of the best days of my life however I went down the medical route and through fear, had an epidural and experienced a somewhat traumatic birth experience that left me with PND. I vowed that next time, I would do everything I could to have control over my birthing experience and to experience a healing birth.
And I did!
Lily Luisa was born in March 2014 and this time, I was prepared to have the birth that I had always dreamt about. As a Hypnobirthing teacher I utilised my skills and found that teaching throughout my pregnancy only further served to reframe all my negative thoughts about birth, into positive believe in yourself thoughts about birth. Women since the dawn of time have been giving birth without fear, and I believed that I would do it too. Hypnobirthing enabled me to take control of my birth experience and I enjoyed a magical home birth using a birthing pool with just candle light, my wonderful Doula and Enya playing on the iPod!
I used the Hypnobirthing techniques throughout my up stage and welcomed each surge with a smile on my face. It was tough! It was a huge test of endurance but it was the most empowering experience of my whole life. When it was time to breath Lily out, hypnosis kicked in and I disappeared so far within myself that I didn’t even know that I had given birth! One of the midwifes told me to pick up Lily from the bottom of the birthing pool! All 9lbs and 5oz of her! She breastfed within twenty minutes and I allowed the cord to stop pulsating before dad cut it. The cord was dried and made into a beautiful heart shaped keepsake. The placenta was delivered naturally in only ten minutes and I enjoyed a placenta smoothie with the rest encapsulated and made into my own rescue remedy for both myself and for Lily.
My birth with Lily was so easy that I was up and dressed and at playgroup with my toddler the next morning! Then I crashed….but it was amazing and i felt like a goddess.
Now, more than ever, I want to share with you how Hypnobirthing can work for you.
